  • Caryl Pagel’s talk on Lorine Niedecker now available from PBS Wisconsin

    PBS Wisconsin recorded a presentation on Lorine Niedecker given by Caryl Pagel at the Hoard Historical Museum on August 29, 2024.   • Applications now open for 2025 Lorine Niedecker Fellowship

    The Friends of Lorine Niedecker and Write On, Door County are pleased to announce the availability of a Lorine Niedecker Fellowship during May 2025. This fellowship is offered every two years to an established or emerging poet familiar with the work of the 20th century American poet, Lorine Niedecker, and encourages research into Niedecker’s life and writing and promotes new work that deals with the poetry of place. Applications must be submitted online via Submittable. The application consists of 10-12 pages of poetry, a 300-500-word statement of purpose, a C.V. or resume, and two references.   • North Central Reading Series: Sara Ellen Fowler & José Felipe Alvergue

    Friends of Lorine Niedecker (FoLN) are delighted to host poets Sara Ellen Fowler and José Felipe Alvergue for a virtual reading on Sunday, October 20th, 2024 at 5pm CST.  Sara Ellen Fowler’s first book, Two Signatures (University of Utah Press, 2024) was selected by Joan Naviyuk Kane as winner of the Agha Shahid Ali Poetry Prize. Sara is a writer, artist, and educator living in California. Her writing has appeared in The Offing, X-TRA Contemporary Art Journal, Interim, and Gigantic Sequins, among others.   • Niedecker’s Binoculars: A virtual talk by Patrick Morrissey

    Friends of Lorine Niedecker (FoLN) are delighted to host poet and essayist Patrick Morrissey for a virtual talk delivered via Zoom on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 5pm CST. This event will be recorded. This talk will consider the significance of double vision, shifting scales, and embarrassment in the poetry of Lorine Niedecker.     The Friends of Lorine Niedecker were really excited to see a recent set of essays related to Lorine Niedecker over at Post45, with contributions from poets and scholar like Hoa Nguyen, Sasha Steensen, Samia Rahimtoola, Michelle Niemann, plus Sarah Dimick and Brandon Menke, who edited the collection.
